A big hello and a sorry for the long absence!!!

It's been far too long since my last post, nearly a year!
My life changed a bit, and for a while the miniature hobby was something I had no time for, or wanted to think about .
My french house was nearly finished and the work remaining was the exterior.....it still remains!!!!
These days I have been spending my time in Stavanger, a town on the west coast of Norway.
I  quitted the library job, my flat is sold and i have rented a new one in this town.
Today I got a phone call  from one of the jobs I applied for, and I made an appointment for my first job interview!!!
In this city I have relatives, a brother and a sister, both older than me..probably wiser too!!! :)
I have miniature friends, and hopefully I will be able to blow some life into some of the activities this town once had; a miniature club! It still exist ....but I don't think or know if there is any activities these days...
It will still be some time until you will see any miniature pictures from my hand....need to move my stuff, get settled and get a job first! But I have ideas and some unfinished stuff...so, one of these days!!!
Here is a picture of the kitchen in my new flat, quite a modern looking one. I guess it will change my interior style a bit, but I am still hanging on to my old books, my french aubusson carpet and Laura Ashley lamps!!!

See u soon!!

This is the landscape of my new home, i'ts on an island, but attached with bridges to the mainland and just a 10 min drive from the big city!!
A special cold and windy day in the center of the city harbour !!

Long time no see (blogging).....

Hi all friends and followers,
Sorry about the long absence from the blog world!

I am well and in good health and so is the rest of the family.
Some of the reason for my absence is of course work. As some of you know I am working 50% in a school library. Due to all of those nice holidays we have in the school system, I need to work more hours on a daily basis to even out the free time. And getting just half the paycheck that I need, I must work more. Luckily there is another division of this school, a school for children with different learning problems. These students are living at the school
and need people to take care of them after the end of the school hours. That is my job in the evenings, a couple of days of the week. After ending the day in the library I drive over to this place, and start working at 15.00 and finishes  at 22.00 in the evening.

And i moved again!!!
Too much Moose, trees and lack of people at the farm!!!
I am now back in Rena in a smaller and better apartment.
So as you may understand I am quite busy with everything but minis!!!
My french house is now placed in my living room. It is almost completed inside, but still in need for the exterior work....
But Norway is a dark place at the moment, and when I return home in the evening it is totally dark! As soon as I have some spare time and some daylight I will try to take some better pictures. Lucy Maloney's adorable gift (Bastian) needs to be photographed with a good camera!!!
So until then, here 's a bad and dark picture from the new place and some nice frosty pictures from Hedmark county (Rena, Koppang, where I work and Rendalen is in Hedmark county)

A big hug to you all from Synnøve

My work space!

The desk is made by a kitchen work top. I have my big Mac for photoshop and photos, a real big work Mac, and my little sweetheart the "Macbook" is for writhing and browsing the net. The shelf at the end of the desk is great for storing a diversity of small items! The chair looks lovely, but it needs a pillow or a replacement!

Behind the Mac is my not so trustful Canon printer/scanner....it comes up with an error message all the time, but I have learned how to fix it!!!! A self-made message-board filled with pictures of my children in various ages!

The french house in all it's unfinished beauty!!!

It is placed upon some drawers on wheels from Ikea, looks kind of unsteady, but it not!
Works fine for being able to turn it around....when the fronts are finished I need to come up with another idea of course!!
Behind the Ikea chair an ikea shelf filled with 5% of my beloved books and more photos.

There are no pictures on the walls yet. I need to come up with an idea how to hang them from the skirting of the ceiling!!

Victoria's house needs to be moved into... everything still in boxes!

The tall shelf is filled with interior books and interior magazines!
I have moved 3 times the last year and each time I throw some of them away.. it hurts my heart, but they weigh  SO much!!!

So, this is my sanctuary and my studio, Hopefully I will be inspired both from the room, the nature and all of you great talented blog-friends out there :D
Enjoy!

My cosy corner!

I am kind of exhausted after carrying all my belongings down stairs up stairs....Sunday was the big "moving day" and I had rented a big car, luckily it was big enough for everything. It takes one hour from the flat to the new home, and after unloading everything ( me and my man) we had to drive the car back down again.. one hour down and then back home!! My back, my muscles, everything is acing....I am to old for this!!! On Monday  I drove back and did the washing of the flat... not that it was so dirty, but i wanted to do it properly... took me all day!! So today I have carried some more, and placing a lot of  stuff......I decided to change the bed to fit in better with the furniture. The pictures are not up yet..but still, looks kind of cosy like this too.... quite different from the french house!!!

A FANTASTIC DAY!

No miniatures today either! Just some pictures from a wonderful skiing trip to the "Sølen" mountains nearby my new home. We started walking at about 9.30 this morning and was home at about 18.30 Pm!
It was a fantastic day, the sun was shining and the snow was great. It was a bit hard to walk up those steep
slopes almost to the top...but we did not walk all the way to the top today! It was so fun to run down again!!!

The mountains lies ahed of us!

A man and his mountain!!!

Time for rest and some food!!

Time to say goodbye and head for home!

THE NEW ROOM!

We made it, just in time for easter and Victorias arrival!
This is not a very sharp picture, but I think it looks so cosy:)

At the time this picture was taken, the bed was the only furniture in the room. Later on, we placed my worktable under the other window. Lots of light........

Like Linda I love to see my dollhouse all lit up in a dark room! Kind of nice to see it without furniture too.....

Victoria had a really nice time, she enjoyed the big house, all the people visiting and of course the big easter egg!!!
The weather was not the best, fog and rain most of the week. But saturday arrived with very nice weather, lots of sunshine and quite warm.

Saturday she went downhill skiing, saturday she tried the snowboard!
She was quite good at the snowboard too!!!!

THE ROOM IS NEARLY FINISH!

The paintwork of the room is finish. I was originally thinking about painting the old floor. But it was full of bumps and big cracks. I sometimes loose tiny miniature parts on the floor, I don't want it to fall down and disappear into a crack in the floor!!! So I found a quite reasonable prised faux parquet floor.
We have been working the whole weekend to lay down the new the floor. It was not as easy as we were thinking at first..... Not one angle was straight, and then there was the heavy old oven that had to be lifted up. Lifted up on it's to front legs, the risk of the whole oven rolling over was big. It weighs several hundred kilos!

The red "things" are the lifting devices!

Kind of hard to adapt the floor after this wall!!

Notice the pipe on the top of the oven is off!!! We need to have a big trolley, lift the oven up, back it away from the wall, adjust the thing at the top and roll the oven on to the pipe!!!! Puhh..
But it's a nice several hundred years old oven with lots of nice details;

Notice the figure in the door; it's for letting the air come into the oven and make sure a correct combustion!

So, almost done, just some painting behind the old skirting we removed. Then i have to put on new skirting and the room is complete!
On Wednesday we are picking up some furniture from the flat. The bed, sofa and hopefully my work table and the french house!!!!
Then it´s soon easter and my sweet daughter Victoria is comming!!

No minis, just a 1:1 scale project!

As some of you might know; I am moving from my flat to a big old house belonging to my boyfriend.
It is about 1 hour drive from my old place.  It's a old farmhouse belonging to a big forest property.

I am not doing a lot of painting and redecoration in this house, but I am painting this one room upstairs.
It's going to function as a workroom/guest room, but mainly MY room in this big house.
As you see from these pictures, it needs a lot of paint and work. I have been plastering holes, bumps, removing old paint, sanding..... my right arm hurts!!!!

Finally the walls, windows and the door are painted... need another coat though!!
Then there is the brick wall next to the cosy old oven, it needs a coat too. The last thing will be painting the floor. Not sure about the color though.....
It has to be ready the weekend before Easter. I need to get the guest bed from my flat and a lot of other stuff....I have started packing. I started with the french house.. it was hard to start packing it down. Felt like I was packing down my real house... hm..strange feeling!!!
I will keep you updated:)
