More french details!

Books are popular to make these days, and I am working on my version of them.

These old looking books are typically french, and I have seen a lot of pictures with
books like this. I have only made these three books so far...it´s a rather time consuming thing to do! I am sewing two and two pages together, I then stitch 6 pieces together and then sew those together in the back. Dipping them in tea, gives them the old look. After giving them a good soak, gently squeeze the rest of the tea out of it. Place it in a tweezer, use the hairdryer to dry it, this will make the paper thicker. This wont dry it completely, it will dry overnight. Then it´s ready for placing the little label at the back of the miniature antique french book!

The lovely candlestick is made by Cilla ( Minst.com)
Those tiny and cute reading glasses with the leather box is made by a swedish lady ; Mette Möller (memdolls, no website, but e-mail Cilla about her!)
The figurine was purchased in Antibes, and the magnifying glass...I don´t remember!

This is a new book cabinet I assembled this summer ( I might rip of the doors though) It is going to be filled with books of course, hopefully a lot of the "antique" books! But like Sabihas wine cellar....it´s going to take some time, hopefully not too many years! The bookcabinet is going into the living room, the picture is taken in the small hallway at the back of the dining room.
The wonderful bird is made by Cilla at Minst.com
Placed on the open book at the little table is the lovely gift from Linda. She gave me a packet of her wonderful tiny "lettres d´amour!

This picture has ben my source of inspiration:

Bathroom finished!

This bathroom have been finished for a while now, it was actually one of the first room i did! The only thing that missed, was those tiny details that make it look right.  So this evening I´v  made the towel hanger beside the sink... and the towel with the small embroider monogram. I purchased a bunch of them at a marked last year in Antibes. I ´v  also made the toilet paper holder to match the towel holder....and the hanger(?) for the shower curtain. I ´v  made the perfume bottles on the sink, the box with towels on the floor, the floor mat, the small shelf above the bathtub. Two of the perfume bottles, I did. The pink, sweet tray is from Victoria Fasken ( she has no home page, but just google her) The beautiful pink carafe     was a gift from a dear friend; Tove ( she used to have a dollhouse shop in Bergen, and thats where I purchased the lamp) Enjoy the bath!!

The Sewing room!

Finally I found the inspiration I´v been looking for; Lea´s book of course! The room vas dull and hard to decorate, much to do with the bedroom wallpaper! It´s not easy to find something to match it. I like it when two room´s don´t collide in style or color. Originally I wanted the small fireplace in the bedroom, but came up with that idea too late!! So when looking through the book for the 100 time...ah ha...that´s what I´ll do; make new walls on cardboard, and the fireplace of course! It was so easy and fun to do. But I have only made the wall you see in the picture. Now I have to do the rest of the room...not so fun, but I must!!! The poor french woman has no hair
(I am going to make her a wig, eventually!) and no clothes, except what she´s wearing. No wonder she´s sewing!!
I would like you to give me an idea of a french name that suites her. The wig will be dark, maybe long hair..... and the time period is now! Just look at her washer!!

Some improved pictures of the utility/laundry room.

Snowing!!!! No it´s too early!!!!

This is the view from my working room. I look out on two of the oldest houses in Rena, the brown one is used as a kindergarden! But it´s too early for winter and snow. This means that I am looking at 6 months of cold winter!!! My what have I done!! Okay...this is what you get moving away from the west coast and the rain ( would I like rain for 6 months ? NOOO)
So here we go, winter is here!

I also like to show you my working room. I am lucky, I have a lot of space..too much maybee...it´s always looking messy!! Working on the sewing room, new pictures tomorrow :D

Look into this blog!!!

You just have to visit this blog and look at all the wonderful flower´s!

Utility room in the french house.

The utility room in the house is almost ready. It needs a bit more of character, some utility´s..... maybe?

I made the shelf with the metal hook´s. I also made the little hanger. I bought the dust broom at a fair... not sure where...
The fantastic bottles on top of the washer and the bucket was bought at the Kensington dollhouse festival(www.dollshousefestival.com) from Country Treasures.
(Kensington dollhouse festival has a christmas fair the 22 of November, and I am visiting!!!!!)
I also bought the wonderful laundry basket there, from lovely Zara Thomson Ribeaud. (www.zarathomsonribeaud.com)
Notice that one of the pictures of the shelf has different "utility´s"...
looks a lot better with the cute boxes from Rosanna.. dont you think?
And I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures...I will be back with something better !!!!

Laura Ashley. Anyone who likes it is free to use it. Just click on the picture, it´s then in the right size, and print from that!

Selling real miniature watercolor pictures!

I was supposed to be selling these at the Stavanger fair, but could not be there. So I am trying to sell them here instead. They are painted by a norwegian artist: Grethe Selbæk Solemsløkk. Just google her and read about her.
The small watercolor paintings are painted on my request, so they are quite exclusive. They measure about 3 cm X 2.5 cm, some of them a little bit smaller.
1 picture costs 35 € ( 300 Nkr)
The first one to ask for a picture gets it, and I will remove them as they get sold!
Enjoy :D

PS: Colors will be a bit different from what they look like on your screen.
If you want to order, just refer to them as number 1 or 2 from the top.

Gardening tools!

Hello everybody!
Back home from a great trip to the US. Stayed a while with Nancy in Minneapolis (She´s a good friend who also helped me editing my english translation of Et Dukkehjem) She lives in a cosy neighborhood nearby the airport ( and Mall of Amerika!!!)
One day we went shopping in her neighborhood and found a wonderful shop with all kind of flowers and garden accessories. I also found these sweet rusty miniature garden tools, watering can and the lovely bench. The shop is named "Twiggs" owned by a lovely lady by the name Beth Patrin ( 612-823-TWIG). And of course, I had to pay a visit to "Little Enchantments". As far as I know it´s the only miniature shop in MN. I only bought some frames,"Museum gel", a bottle of Perrier, spring onions and Nacy bought me the cellery, (because I like it so much in real life!) Thank you Nancy!
More pictures from the trip will be posted after the weekend!

Antibes!

Hun bodde i Biot, utenfor Antibes. Er det noen som kjenner til henne?
Kofferten skal jeg ha i atikvitets/blomsterbutikken i det franske huset!

I bought this trunk in Antibes last fall. The shop is called "Pierrot La Lune". The shopkeeper only new the makers first name; Ingrid, and she was living in Biot outside Antibes. Does anyone have any knowledge about her?
The trunk is going into the antique/flowershop in the french house!

Vanity table for the french house

Here is my vanity table for the dressing room in my french house. Yesterday I was really inspired and started doing this. It´s going in the room behind the bedroom. From this room there is going to be a stair down to the living room.

The chair is made by my youngest daughter Victoria! The table has a piece of lace around it,
All of the perfume bottles are made by me, also the pink book at the end of the table. (I´v used some very thin chocolate tinfoil to rap around the book) The wrist watch, hairpin and fan are made by Cilla (minst.com) The Easter chocolate thing on top of the book is made by an italian "company" : Bet Un Mondo in Miniatura  The pink tray is made by Victoria Fasken. The "Camé" and it´s box are made by the sweedish; Mette Möller, "Memdolls"( I think she only sells at fairs, and she was at the Stavanger fair) I bought the lamp at a british fair. The neckless and the mask are also from different fairs. I got the wallpaper from a store in Bergen, it´s real size!

Velkommen

It is time for me to welcome old and new followers!
I am so happy each time a new icon from a follower pops up. It´s so nice to have followers!!
In that occasion I want to post a picture from one of the houses I presented in Et Dukkehjem. The house is made by Tove Jonsgar in Bergen, furnished by Cilla at Minst.com, Stockholm, flowers by Wenche Viul, Oslo
and the doll is made by Jan Clarke, England.
I had to decorate the house for three hours before it was ready to be photographed.

Thank you, Zaphia!!

I would like to pass it on to these fabulouse blogs:

Vinter- weekend!

Kanskje dette kan forklare hvorfor det går så langsomt med det franske huset, også i helgene!
Her er fra søndagsturen i fjellene i øvre Rendalen i Hedemark. Bildet viser Rendals Sølen sett fra Veslesetra.

These pictures might explain why the progress on the french house is slow, also during the weekends! These pictures are from one of the trip this weekend. It´s shows some of the mountains in upper part of Rendalen, Hedemark in Norway.
